Puerto Pollensa With Kids: Why We Keep Going Back

by Lizzie | Feb 20, 2026 | Family Travel and Entertainment Resources, Holidays and Travelling

There are some places you visit once and tick off the list. And then there are places you return to again and again because they just work for your family. For us, Puerto Pollensa is one of those places.

We’ve been a couple of times now with our four daughters, and every time we go, it reminds me why this little corner of Mallorca is such a brilliant choice for families - especially those with young children.

The Pine Walk: A Family Dream

If you’ve ever been to Puerto Pollensa, you’ll know that the Pine Walk is the heart of it all. It’s calm, beautiful, and incredibly family‑friendly. But the real magic is how easy everything feels.

You have endless restaurants right on your doorstep - genuinely endless. Tapas, pizza, seafood, burgers, ice cream, cafés… you name it. And because there’s so much choice, you will always find something your family will eat. No battles, no stress, no wandering around for an hour with hungry kids.

It’s the kind of place where you can stroll along the water, stop for dinner, and feel like you’re actually on holiday rather than managing a small army.

A Beach Made for Kids

The beach in Puerto Pollensa is exactly what you want when you’ve got little ones. It’s:

  • Calm
  • Shallow
  • Clean
  • Easy to access
  • Perfect for paddling

Our girls love it - especially because there’s a playground right on the sand. It’s such a simple thing, but it makes a huge difference. They can run, climb, and play while we sit nearby with a coffee or an ice cream. Bliss.

A Short, Easy Transfer

When you’re travelling with young children, the journey matters just as much as the destination. Puerto Pollensa is only around an hour from Palma airport, which is ideal. No long transfers, no meltdowns, no “are we there yet” on repeat.

It’s one of the reasons we chose it in the first place - and one of the reasons we keep going back.

What We’ve Done With the Kids

Honestly? We haven’t packed our days with activities. And that’s part of the charm.

Puerto Pollensa is the kind of place where you don’t need a big itinerary. The beach, the playground, the Pine Walk, the restaurants - that’s enough to fill your days happily.

But if you want to add a little more to your trip, here are some family‑friendly ideas that fit the vibe of the place:

1. The Port & Marina

A gentle wander around the marina is perfect for little legs. Ours love looking at the boats, choosing their favourites, and spotting fish in the water.

2. A Boat Trip

There are short, calm boat trips that are ideal for families - nothing too long, nothing too adventurous, just a lovely way to see the coastline.

3. The Market in Pollensa Town

A short bus or taxi ride away, the Sunday market is colourful, lively, and full of things kids find fascinating — fruit stalls, handmade bits, local treats. It’s an easy morning out.

4. A Visit to Alcudia Old Town

Only about 15 minutes away, Alcudia’s old town is beautiful and very walkable. Kids love the city walls, the narrow streets, and the ice cream stops.

5. Paddleboarding or Pedalos

The calm water makes it perfect for trying something new. Even little ones can sit on a paddleboard with you, or you can hire a pedalo with a slide - always a winner.

6. The Pine Walk Beaches

There are tiny coves and quieter spots along the Pine Walk that feel like little discoveries. Great for a change of scenery without going far.

Why We’ll Keep Going Back

Puerto Pollensa is one of those rare places that feels easy. And when you’ve got four children under eight, “easy” is everything.

It’s safe.
It’s calm.
It’s beautiful.
It’s full of good food.
It’s simple to get around.
And it gives you the kind of holiday where you can actually relax - even with kids.

We’ll definitely be back. And if you’re looking for a family‑friendly destination that doesn’t require complicated planning or endless entertainment schedules, Puerto Pollensa might just be your new favourite place too.
